About Tussionex Cough Syrup
Each 5 mL of tussionex cough syrup contains hydrocodone polistirex equivalent to 10 mg of hydrocodone bitartrate and chlorpheniramine polistirex equivalent to 8 mg of chlorpheniramine maleate. Hydrocodone is a centrally-acting narcotic antitussive and Chlorpheniramine is an antihistamine.
Hydrocodone and chlorpheniramine polistirex combination is used to treat cough and respiratory symptoms associated with a cold or allergy.
Tussionex Lean Syrup Uses
Firstly, tussionex is part of the antihistamine and opioid combinations class, so it treats allergic rhinitis, cold symptoms, and cough. In addition, antihistamine and opioid combinations are used to treat cough and cold symptoms. They work by suppressing the cough and blocking histamine which causes the symptoms of stuffy nose, runny nose, itchy throat, and sneezing. Tussionex is available and to be consumed only by adults and/or children of 6 years and more.
Indications for this Syrup
Tussionex syrup is indicated for relief of cough and upper respiratory symptoms associated with allergy or a cold in adults and children 6 years of age and older.
Tussionex Cough Syrup Dosage
This is the dosage for tussionex cough syrup, and you should not do otherwise.
First, we advise you not to dilute TUSSIONEX cough syrup with other fluids and not to mix with other drugs. This may alter the resin-binding and change the absorption rate, possibly increasing the toxicity.
Secondly, the syrup should be measured with an accurate measuring device. A household teaspoon is not an accurate measuring device and could lead to overdose.
Moreover, the syrup has a dosing spoon with the 4 oz (115 mL) packaged product. And you should use one side of the spoon for a 2.5 mL dose. The other side of the spoon is for a 5 mL dose and you should be careful should be while selecting.
In addition, you should fill to level the side of the spoon for the dose that has been prescribed. The spoon should not be overfilled. Rinse the measuring device or dosing spoon after each use.
Alternatively, your should obtain an appropriate measuring device from your pharmacist who can provide instructions for measuring the correct dose.
